Following the Open House and History of Spiritualism Exhibit, join us for a thoughtful demonstration of mediumship, in which we prove the continuity of life after the change called death. A medium will connect with Spirit, the presence and energy of loved ones who have passed and share evidence of their identity and messages of love, comfort, and guidance in a respectful, uplifting, and welcoming setting. Not all attendees will receive a message from Spirit.

Registration Required.

Step back in time inside this 1890s Shingle-style church, built by the Swampscott Universalist congregation on the former Enoch Reddington Mudge estate. Since 1982, it has been home to the Swampscott Church of Spiritualism. View original features, including stained glass, pews, and pipe organ, then explore the History of Spiritualism exhibit, tracing its 1848 beginnings with the Fox sisters, its Civil War-era growth, and its evolution into the philosophy, science, and religion practiced here today.

No registration needed.

Join Medium Penny Hayward for a powerful and experiential workshop exploring the difference between Sitting in the Power and Working in the Power.

Penny will guide participants in aligning physical, mental, magnetic, and vital energies to create the right energetic space to build the power, a practice known as Sitting in the Power. Penny thinks of this practice as connecting with Your Inner Universe and allowing the vital forces to build within.

The day will also explore Working in the Power, the alignment, activation, and control of energies as they are expressed through different mediumistic states. Participants will explore how the power feels and how it may take different forms depending on the mediumistic state required.

Join us for a brief history of Spiritualism, followed by a demonstration of evidential mediumship affirming the continuity of life after death. Spiritualism began in 1848 with the Fox sisters of New York, who claimed to receive messages from spirits through rapping sounds.

The movement grew rapidly after the Civil War, as many sought comfort. Blending religion, science, and philosophy, Spiritualism promotes healing, spirit communication, and personal responsibility, influencing reforms like women’s suffrage and abolition.

Registration is required, admission is free.
